Chestnuts Nursery Consultation

At Chestnuts, The current provider that leases space at the Nursery is moving sites.  Chestnuts Primary would like to set up its own provision.  This requires us to obtain approval from the DfE to change the age range of the school to include nursery aged children.  This is called a Significant Change. A nursery will mean great educational gains, as the Teacher-Led facility will be supporting children before they join the school; making sure they are school ready.

The purpose of this document is to provide information relating to the proposal to establish this nursery and to seek the views of parents and the wider community to enable them to make an informed response to the opening of the nursery.

The proposition is for the school to open a nursery.  To do this they will need to change the age range for the school from 4-11 to 2-11, this will enable children in the term before their 3^rd birthday if Pupil Premium children are to use the provision.  This proposal changes the age range for the school by 2 years and so a Fast Track process can be used for DfE approval.

The plan is for the facilities to be altered, updated and made suitable for the 3-4 provision.  The plan is to open in September 2022.

The provision will be Teacher-Led and will be opened to funded and privately funded places.  Statutory funded sessions will be from 9 to 3 (30 hours).  Extra hours will be charged per hour (£8.50).  The setting of sessions and rates will be agreed upon later but would be locally competitive and above the statutory rates received from the LA.

The aim will be to admit up to full-time equivalent 39 children places.
