We are beginning a consultation on the potential creation of a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision, which we hope to open in September 2026 if approved.
Across the country there is a well-documented shortage of specialist places for children with additional needs, and Milton Keynes is no exception. As a school that is proud of its inclusive ethos, we feel a responsibility to explore how we can contribute positively to the local offer while continuing to strengthen our own provision. This new department would be part of our school, designed and run by our team, and would complement the values and culture our community knows so well.
We are pleased to be working in partnership with Milton Keynes Council, who will fund the development and allocate admissions to the provision. This collaboration ensures that the plans are aligned with local priorities.
To make this possible, we will create a dedicated, self-contained space with two specialist classrooms, a breakout area, appropriate facilities, and its own secure outdoor space. These changes will not reduce the number of classes in our main school, nor will they alter the structure of our current provision.
We are genuinely excited about what this could bring to our community. Above all, this proposal reflects our belief that every child should have access to the right support in a nurturing, high-quality environment.
We encourage all families to take part in the process. Use this form for comments: Consultation on SEN Units at Chestnuts Primary, Rickley Park Primary and Whitehouse Primary schools – Fill in form
