Subject Leadership – Art and DT

November 24, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - March 16, 2022 @ 4:00 pm

Free

Facilitated by Charlotte Baldwin

Pre-requisites

Attendees should be subject leaders prepared to attend 4 sessions, completing practical tasks between sessions. An opportunity to meet other subject leaders, build and share their subject knowledge particularly of monitoring learning and teaching in their subject area through a deep dive model: ideal for both building best practice and being Ofsted ready.

Scope of this CPD

This is a four-session course designed to support subject leaders with responsibility for ensuring their subject curriculum reflects best practice and is Ofsted ready. It is an opportunity for the subject leader to be guided in using a deep dive model to review their current subject curriculum in order to clarify intent, implementation and impact, identify any gaps or development needs, create a realistic and effective plan to address those needs, and, when that plan has been agreed with senior leaders, to be supported in the effective implementation of that plan.

School Commitment required for this CPD

Each session is designed to take two and a half hours, with gap tasks to be completed between sessions. Gap Tasks are exercises designed to embed the learning in their specific setting and gather evidence including a self-evaluation of the curriculum, pupil voice exercise, work study and talking to teachers.

Impact and Benefits of this CPD

Impact is integral to this programme. The subject leader is supported in undertaking a RAG review of intent, implementation and impact of current subject resources and curriculum – any existing gaps and development needs are quickly, and clearly identified and existing strengths and good practice recognised.

The subject leader is supported in designing a plan of implementation to address those gaps and development needs – that plan is presented to senior leaders for approval.

When the plan is agreed with senior leaders, the subject leader is supported in the roll out of the plan – promoting effective subject communication across key stages, supporting existing good practice, and increasing staff confidence.
