Humanities Subject Leadership

It is essential that you attend all dates and also commit to gap tasks and an additional ‘Typicality Walk’ at a date to be confirmed.

Dates :

Part 1 – Wednesday 9th June 2021, 1.30 – 4.00pm

Part 2 – Wednesday 23rd June 2021, 1.30 – 4.00pm

Part 3 – Thursday 8th July 2021, 1.30 – 4.00pm

Part 4 – December – Date TBC

Intended audience: Subject Leaders for History and Geography. Head Teachers will be required to attend some of the training alongside their subject leaders in order to mentor the leader in school and monitor the progress of their project. Please note, this is a pilot group and attendance is by invitation only at this time.

Delivery: Blended learning with face to face learning through remote delivery and ‘in real life’ as appropriate to the learning intentions of the session and in line with current Covid restrictions in place at the time. This may be subject to change.

Description: This series of professional development events will build and develop your knowledge and understanding of subject leadership in the context of history and geography. You will learn:

• more about subject leadership, subject specific pedagogy and how general up to date pedagogy can be applied to your subject area;

• how to carry out monitoring activities and review and analyse them to identify a clear understanding of current typical practice and areas to develop in your school;

• how to create a project development plan and carry out the Evidence Based actions to meet your intentions;

• to review the impact of your project, reflect on your development, and analyse the impact of the training on you and on others in your learning community through Learning Journals and a final short impact report.

The cost of the course for non subscriptions schools: £135 + VAT for a full day course, £75 + VAT for a half day course. Your school is invoiced after the event.
